    Resume

You can think of a resume as an informational document that tells the story of your career and your skills, work experience, and education. However, it also serves as a summary of your accomplishments.
  • It is important to ensure that your resume aligns with the job description's requirements by emphasising the relevant education, work experience, and skills you have (languages, software systems, certifications).
  • If you have experience in different roles, you should list them in reverse chronological order with the most recent at the top. Be careful to use the correct tense when describing your former roles and when describing your current roles.
  • Your resume should, in most cases, be kept to just one page and should only contain the last ten years of your work experience. If there are any gaps in your resume, you can explain them in more detail during your interview.
  • If possible, quantify your accomplishments as much as you can. For instance, "Increased sales revenue by10% over the past year.".
  • Save as PDF or Word (not HTML or Text)_and name your resume files with your first and last name.
  • Pro Tip: Check your spelling, grammar, and formatting before you submit your application to ensure that it is accurate.

    Be Unique

Having a unique personal brand allows you to stand out from the competition by giving the hiring team a better understanding of your values and the way in which you display them. In other words, your brand describes who you are and what you represent. It allows you to tell the story about your professional journey and career goals in your own words.
  • Communicate your top values in a clear and concise manner.
  • If you want to be the best version of yourself, share what inspires you to do so.
  • Consider the ways in which your passions are aligned with your work.
  • Pro Tip: Everyone is unique in their own way. Take some time to ask colleagues or friends what makes you unique. This may help you define your personal brand when speaking with the talent team.

    A Few Tips

The type and round of interview you will be required to take part in will depend on the position that you are applying for. This may consist of a phone screen, a video interview, or an in-person interview. Recruiters will be available to answer any questions you may have along the way, but here are some tips to help you succeed.
  • Take a look at the job description and determine how your skills and experience align with the requirements.
  • It is important to be prepared to discuss why you are interested in the role as well as Lear's organization.
  • By looking into the LinkedIn profiles of your interviewer(s), you will be able to learn more about their professional backgrounds.
  • When you are conducting a phone or virtual interview, make sure that you test your connection and find a quiet place that is void of distractions.
  • Pro Tip: Being yourself is the most important thing you can do!

    Post-Interview

As a candidate, getting to the interview stage is an amazing accomplishment. Therefore, make sure to first of all give yourself some applause on the back and then reflect on everything you've learned.
  • Send personal thank you notes or emails to each interviewer.
  • Feel free to send any supporting documents you may have discussed with the hiring team.
  • Ask the hiring manager the best way to follow up about next steps.
  • Pro Tip: Recruiters will keep you informed throughout the interview process, so don't worry if it takes a while.

We are aware that fraudulent job offers are being made to prospective candidates across the construction industry, particularly to people outside of Canada.

A fake job offer via email commonly asks for personal information, financial information, and/or payment for visas.

We do not send job offers without meeting individuals. We do not send email from addresses like @gmail.com or @constructionindustry.com, and we never request payment for a job application.

Please contact careers@learconstruction.com immediately if you believe you have been targeted by an employment scam.

You can expect us to investigate and respond directly to you when we find out about these instances. It is important for our legal team to be aware of these cases.
