Aspera

Aspera is a purpose built rental apartment in Edmonton, AB situated in the inner City redevelopment of Griesbach. The developer sought to build a high quality rental product using durable materials to reduce maintenance costs through the lifespan of the building. High quality finish materials for the interior and obtain cost savings for the exterior through selection of materials which could be installed through winter months without additional heating and hoarding requirements. The native soils onsite were high plastic clays which required significant treatment in order to provide suitable conditions for foundation construction. An unusually wet spring exacerbated the issue leading to delays with foundation construction. Delays were mitigated by phasing the foundation and proving an opportunity to fast track the framing. Offsite pre-fabrication of framing panels was also utilized ensuring maximum productivity once foundations were complete.
